Maternity Photos

I had the opportunity to take some maternity photos recently. It was a good challenge, and I enjoyed doing it. I took most of the photos with my 50 mm as I'm still working on learning how to use it properly. I've certainly used the zoom feature ... ha, ha ... you need to use your legs to get to the right position. The 50 mm is a prime lens which means that it is a fixed lens, and does not zoom.

It was a cloudy day, so I was glad to have the 50 mm lens as it is faster than my zoom lens (18-200) which I usually use. This makes it easier to get a better exposure.

It is so amazing to have a baby growing who will soon make its entrance into this world. What a miracle from God! God already knows whether this baby is a boy or girl, and He knows everything about this baby, just as He knew about us before we were born.

Before I (God) formed you in the womb, I knew you ...

From a Kayak

We recently purchased a couple of kayaks, and are learning how to use them. It is beautiful out on the water, especially when the water is calm and fog is lifting in the morning. It really gives you a chance to enjoy God's handiwork. We've found that we can get much closer to loons, and other birds. It also gives you a lower viewpoint, especially when you go in among reeds ... the spider webs are beautiful in the mornings.

I did not take my good camera on this trip - I'm not that confident. But I do have an "expensive point and shoot" camera - a Canon T3i that has a broken selector, so that I can only use the automatic settings and I decided to take it out. I was still nervous that I might upset or drop the camera in the water. I also found it a bit difficult to keep the camera steady enough for the photos.

Therefore I will give thanks to You, O LORD,
among the nations, and I will sing praises to Your name ...

Flowers from the Summer

Throughout the summer, I took several pictures of the different flowers in our yard. God has given us a wide variety of flowers, and these are just some of them. All of these are fairly common flowers, but look at the beauty in them.

Peck Lake, Algonquin Park

We were on a camping trip in Algonquin Park, and went on a hike around Peck Lake. Peck Lake is small, and you are able to walk all around it. This is an excellent hike if you have young children. When you are on a hike like this, you can take landscape photos, but it also gives you the opportunity to take some photos of your kids. They are usually more interested in what they are looking at, and at times, they are happy to sit for a moment and let you take pictures.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.
Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Great Spangled Fritillary

I believe this is a Great Spangled Fritillary butterfly. They are located in southern Canada and in the United States. It was flying in and around the flowers in my backyard.
